Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl update 1.6, Night of the Hunter, brings a slew of new features and improvements to the Zone. Those changes include night vision devices, a hazardous new anomaly, and offset aiming for improved precision.

Considering how dark and dangerous the Zone can be, night vision goggles can be the difference between life and death in numerous situations. It is essential to note that other stalkers are also equipped with NVGs and are prepared to challenge your dominance in the Zone. You’ll be able to find them by visiting an Old Friend in Zaton, who might have valuable intel to share.

To complement the goggles, offset aiming has been added, allowing stalkers to tilt their weapon for improved handling in close-quarters combat and providing leverage for precision at longer ranges. A new high-powered laser pointer is also available, ensuring sharper aim in low-light conditions, though you’ll need a lot of coupons to get one.

A new anomoly can be found as of Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl Night of the Hunter: the Fireball. As the name suggests, this anomaly burns with intense heat, posing a significant hazard to all stalkers, so be sure to keep your eye out for any balls of fire hurtling your way. Other changes coming in 1.6 include:

  • Customizable stick input curves
  • Local save backup restoration feature
  • Revised loot in stashes
  • General technical improvements

Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is available now on Xbox Series X|S and PC (including Game Pass), starting at $59.99. The game was announced for PS5 a few months ago, but no exact release date or window has been provided. The original Stalker Trilogy is also set to get a next-gen update at some point, so be sure to keep your eye out for more news on that.
