After weeks of teasing, the newest update for Misc Games’ sea-faring simulation is finally here, as Ships at Sea 0.7.5 is finally live. The new patch brings a wave of improvements, including brand-new features, plenty of bug fixes, and some general quality-of-life touch-ups.
The most notable new features are summarized below:
- Co-op – team up with your friends to navigate the seas, take on missions, and collaborate on various tasks, either together on one boat or each controlling your own vessel.
- Company Feature – create a company and run it independently or with friends in a co-op session.
- Cargo System Overhaul – introduces improved cargo placement and allows for stacking on large cargo vessels and container ships.
- Radar System – enables the detection of nearby ships and land obstacles while providing vital information about the distance and direction of other objects.
- Sonar System – providing greater depth and realism by adding multiple modes and tools to customize how you locate and identify certain fish.
- Improved Mission System – more dynamic and immersive gameplay with randomized pickup and delivery locations uniquely tailored to each cargo mission
- Wave Size Adjustment – Fine-tune sea conditions to match real-world measurements and choose between Normal and Storm Weather modes.
- Improved Radio – customize your tunes by adding in personal soundtracks or real-life radio stations (via URLs) or listen to preset online channels like Truck Stop or Simulator Radio.
New save files will be required to progress to Ships at Sea update 0.7.5, as v0.7.2 saves will not transfer over. A separate branch for v0.7.2 has been created, but this branch won’t receive future updates, and moving over to the new patch will eventually be required.
Additionally, the cargo-saving feature isn’t available quite yet. While the entire system has gone through an overhaul, certain features are still in development and will be implemented in the future. The full list of patch notes can be found here.
Ships at Sea originally launched back in 2023. Since then, Misc Games has adding new content to the game monthly with three significant additions since August: tier 2 cranes, MacDuff partnership, and tier 3 fishing vessels.
While they haven’t specifically designated a date for sailing out of early access yet, Ships at Sea is available now on Steam, starting at $24.99.
