Today, Misc Games revealed a first look at some of the contents as a part of its next major update to its hit sea-faring simulation title, Ships at Sea update v0.8.3. For the first time, players can now take part in Passenger Transport Missions.
In this first iteration of Passenger Transport Missions in Ships at Sea, you’ll be able to pick up and transport a few NPC passengers in fully playable missions. Currently, the gameplay is relatively minimal, but the developers have already stated their intention to refine the overall mechanics by incorporating user feedback to create a more immersive environment.
The next steps will be to add a Kiosk on Tier 3 Service Boats, which will feature snacks and drinks that can be purchased from the tool shop and served to your passengers to create an authentic ship operation experience while sailing. Passenger Satisfaction is also in the works, with more happy customers resulting in better rewards, which is all based on how well you take care of them during the journey.
Ferry Operations is the most ambitious aspect of this new feature, as the goal is to be able to transport a handful of passengers, vehicles, or considerably larger groups on one of your ships. Ships at Sea originally launched back in 2023.
Since then, Misc Games has added new content to the game on a monthly basis, with three significant additions since August: tier 2 cranes, the MacDuff partnership, and tier 3 fishing vessels. The game is available in early access via Steam starting at $24.99.
