Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma Shows Off New Look At Subaru and Kaguya, the Protagonists

Subaru and Kaguya Rune Factory Guardians of Azuma

Marvelous has been dropping trailers for many of the characters in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, particularly the bachelors and bachelorettes, and this time, it’s shown off Subaru and Kaguya, the male and female protagonists.

Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma will let players choose between Subaru and Kaguya, the male and female protagonists respectively. The character they don’t choose will become a bachelor/bachelorette and a key part of the game’s story.

The two characters are childhood friends and come from the northern area of Azuma. Subaru isn’t keen on jumping into combat, though he’ll do so to protect those he cares about. Subaru is also on the calm side, though she abhors evil and injustice.

Marvelous released a trailer for each of the characters. In Subaru’s, players see a new side of the bachelorette Pilika. It also shows off Woolby, the flying companion who we now know comes off as suspicious to some of the villagers. Fans can watch his trailer below:

Kaguya’s trailer shows her interacting with Hisui, an older lady who’s very concerned about Kaguya’s marriage prospects. The interaction on the whole is quite funny, and fans can watch it below:

With the release of those two trailers, all of the bachelors and bachelorettes have received their own trailers:

Additionally, players can see different scenes with each of the bachelors and bachelorettes in the special Valentine’s Day trailers Marvelous released earlier this year.

Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma will be released on June 5, 2025, on PC, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Marvelous also announced today that the game is available for digital pre-order on Nintendo Switch and for wishlisting on PC. There are a few different options to do so:

Additionally, players can buy the Digital Deluxe DLC set separately, which will include the Seasons of Love Bundle, its digital art book, and the Festive Attire and Dark Woolby DLC (which is new attire for Subaru, Kaguya, and Woolby).

The Super Digital Deluxe DLC can also be purchased separately, and it includes everything in the Digital Deluxe DLC set, plus the game’s digital soundtrack and art book.

There’s also a fun new story trailer for fans to watch:
