The developers of the popular indoor cycling app Rouvy launched update 4.0, and there are plenty of changes worthy of a X.0 patch.
The most visible update is a completely redesigned ride screen that also includes a lot of customization, letting you pick and choose the data that you want on your screen at all times.
For those who use a smart trainer with a virtual shifting device that’s compatible, you’ll be able to see the gears displayed on the screen.
The route creator is now available in open beta, and you can create your own routes with a quality similar to what you can expect from official ones.
Another big addition is the map search, letting you find the location you want more easily on the world map.
Free Ride and Ramp Up/Down workout segments have been added, letting you upload workouts that include them.
You can take a look at the changes and additions in the video below, narrated directly by Product Director Marek-Martin Matyska.
If you’re unfamiliar with Rouvy, it’s a popular app developed in the Czech Republic to be used with training smart bikes (or bike trainers). It’s one among multiple apps that basically turn a smart bike into a full-fledged simulation rig that merges simulation itself, gaming, esports, and physical workouts.
It’s certainly an interesting way to enjoy simulation while also pursuing fitness workouts. On top of that, you can experience locations that many wouldn’t be able to visit in the real world.
The app is currently available for Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, iPad, and Apple TV. It requires a subscription with a few different options available, albeit a 7-day free trial is available.
