Today, toR Studio announced that simulation fans will now be able to channel their inner Ratatouille thanks to their brand new medieval rodent tavern sim, Restaurats.
As the title suggests, Restaurats revolves around a restaurant run by rats, where you’ll serve tables, cook food, and improve your surroundings in order to become the best rat-ed chef around. You can manage the tavern solo or in co-op mode with up to four friends.
Thanks to its medieval setting, Restaurats features a slew of fantastical creatures that will come to feast, like Skeletons, Vampires, and Orcs, all of which will have their own unique orders and tastes. As the tavern grows, you’ll have to cook new recipes, improve your team (and your rat), and be ready to serve VIP customers for bonus rewards.
This will be toR Studio’s fourth official release as an indie developer. Previously, they released titles like Boris the Rocket, Black Baron, and Boxes Inc., each of which explores niche genres and unusual settings, often blending simulation mechanics with narrative and satire.
The studio’s mission statement revolves around experimenting with new ideas and gameplay concepts, delivering fresh and unconventional projects to the indie game scene, which is how they came up with Restaurats.
At the end of each day, you’ll receive special cards affecting dishes, abilities, money, and more, all of which you’ll be able to use to put toward upgrading your tavern. Currently, there is no release date for Restaurats, although an official demo is available on Steam, which you can try for yourself here.
