The first wave of projects being co-developed by the groups are codenamed Project Tremor, Project Umbra, and Project Shadowcar, each of which are already in development. While their exact genres haven’t been stated, the companies’ mission statement revolves around blend world-class Japanese craftsmanship with bold, global creative vision.

Some of those visions will include city-shaking kaiju battles, dark fantasy hunts, and a shadowy espionage thriller. Each of these three mysterious games will launch on PC and major consoles, with global releases, multilingual support, and world premieres planned at events such as Tokyo Game Show.

Acquire has been around since 1994, establishing itself as a unique studio by creating comical, character-rich games like Akiba’s Trip and adventure titles like Tenchu and Way of the Samurai. In recent years, the developers have even expanded into the RPG genre, handling development of Mario & Luigi: Brothership, while also assisting Square Enix with creating Octopath Traveler.

Red Dunes Games is an independent developer and publisher based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The company is a bit newer to the industry than Acquire, but it follows a similar goal of creating creative and unique projects. So far, they already have five projects in production, including Port of Jumanah, Nightmare Battler Zozo, and Princess of the Water Lilies.

The partnership marks the first UAE-Japan collaboration of its kind in game development. For more information on this and other developer and publisher news, be sure to check back to Simulation Daily for updates.
