Ratata Arts has announced the Early Access PC launch date for Ratatan, its upcoming rhythm roguelike that’s the spiritual successor to Patapon, after it was delayed last month.
Originally, Ratatan was supposed to enter Early Access on July 25. However, Ratata Arts told fans on July 3 that the release would be postponed for various reasons, including pacing, visual presentation, and more.
Now, Ratatan will launch in Early Access on September 19, at 12 am JST/3 pm UTC/8 am PDT.
This was first revealed during an exclusive Ratatan event last week in Tokyo, where some press got the chance to test the game’s latest build and chat with developers while a live DJ played tracks from the game.
During the event, other new content was revealed, including a look at World Three (Jam Jammer Jungle Journey) and World Four (Frozen Flower Fantasia).
Jam Jammer Jungle Journey consists of deep jungles and ancient drums, and players will have to traverse through swamps and defeat wildlife to get to the Priestess Tolja So before she completes a ritual to an evil god. Frozen Flower Fantasia is a frozen spring garden ruled by Glaciera.
Additionally, several Ratatans were revealed. These include new weapon types, like bombs, hammers, scythes, and staves.
Producer Kazuto Sakajiri shared their excitement over the announcement:
“To everyone who joined us at the event and all those supporting us online — thank you so much. With the Early Access version, we’ll be incorporating your feedback to make Ratatan even better. Let’s make this world an amazing one together!”
Prior to the Early Access release for Ratatan, a special livestream from voice actor Tomokazu Sugita will be held on September 14. The livestream will go over the roadmap, events, and more, and it’ll be held here on the AGRS Channel.
