Qiddiya Investment Company published an interesting video today showing the progress made by the project which aims to create a massive esports and entertainment-focused city in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The video provides some rare images of the large-scale construction site, which already shows some of the venues taking shape in an area 45 km from downtown Riyadh and 70 km from the  Saudi Capital City’s main airport King Khalid International.

We also see some renderings of what some of these venues should look like when they are completed as part of the Saudi Vision 2030 initiative.

The video shows the people involved at the top levels in this megaproject and also provides a summary of the social media reach achieved last year.

You can watch it below.

If you’re unfamiliar with the project, which started construction in 2019, it aims to construct a futuristic city focused on entertainment, esports, and “play” in general.

It’ll host 27 attractions including 12 branded theme parks, a Six Flags amusement park, the Aquarabia water park, the Dragon Ball theme park, and the motorsports-dedicated Speed Park.

An entire neighborhood will be dedicated to gaming and esports, including multiple arenas capable of seating 73,000 spectators, team facilities, and boot camps, on top of over 30 regional headquarters for gaming publishers and developers.

According to its promoters, Qiddiya City will become home to over 500,000 permanent residents. It’ll also create over 300,000 jobs, and generate 48 million visits per year.

Back in December, we heard that it partnered with the PUBG Mobile Global Championship.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been investing heavily in gaming and esports, and one of the main success stories generated by its ambitions is the hosting of the first official Olympic Esports Games in 2025.
