PUBG: Battlegrounds Announce Testing Schedule for Its AI-Powered Co-op NPC PUBG Ally

PUBG: Battlegrounds

Today, Krafton joined Nvidia to unveil more information for the next innovation coming to its hit battle royale title, PUBG: Battlegrounds.

Back in January, it was revealed that Krafton planned to use the company’s generative AI tech in the PUBG franchise to create a brand new AI-powered NPC to help assist players via Nvidia ACE technology. Codenamed PUBG Ally, this CPC (Co-Playable Character). Today, it was revealed that the first playtests for the new AI teammate will be held for the first time in PUBG: Battlegrounds Arcade in early 2026, with plans to refine and optimize PUBG Ally based on user feedback.

PUBG Ally is not only equipped with the ability to combat enemy players but can even communicate and cooperate with its teammates, discuss strategies, and adapt its playstyle based on each situation. It will even be able to bring requested items, assist in reviving its teammates, and make independent decisions during looting, combat, and survival situations.

Voice-based interaction will also be possible, as the system is designed for in-game dialogue and understands PUBG terminology, maps, and item attributes, allowing for natural player communication, and is supported in English, Korean, and Chinese.

Due to the fact that it operates entirely on-device, the CPC latency is extremely low, making for quick and concise communication and teamwork. According to the developers, this is the first step in continuing its long-term strategic partnership with NVIDIA to further advance AI technologies in gaming.

This aligns with recent news, as Krafton announced during its company-wide town hall meeting that it’ll accelerate efforts to implement Agentic AI, supporting AI workflow automation, AI R&D, and in-game service enhancements across the organization.

PUBG: Battlegrounds is available as a free-to-play title across consoles, PC, and mobile devices. For more information on this and other battle royale titles, be sure to check back to Simulation Daily.
