Earlier this month, Pompeii: The Legacy developer and publisher Siscia Games showed off alpha footage for its upcoming simulation title while also teasing a release window of mid-March for its Steam Playtest. Today, we now know that the test will launch on March 18, 2025, at 9:00 AM ET.
The Pompeii: The Legacy Steam Playtest will let players get a first-hand experience with the Roman city-builder, tasking them with shaping the revival of the legend Italian city after its devastating fall. Players are placed in the shoes of the head of a Roman family overseeing Pompeii’s reconstruction over several generations.
The game revolves around intricate city-building systems, resource management, and historical atmosphere, boasting unique city-building mechanics, immersive visuals, and strategic depth when it comes to its gameplay. Alongside building up Pompeii, there are also military and RTS elements that come in to play, as you must defend the land you’ve built against those that wish to plunder its riches.
Sessions will last 1 hour and 30 minutes and can be played as many times as possible, giving players a sneak peek into the story-driven campaign. You’ll have access to over 30 authentic Roman buildings, a refined user interface, and the ability to manage skills, perks, and city laws in this test, though the military and RTS elements will not be available for this specific trial.
Anyone who is interested in signing up for the Pompeii: The Legacy Steam Playtest can do so by heading right here. At the moment, there is no exact date for the game’s full release, though the plan is for it to arrive on PC at some point in 2025.
