Nintendo has released a new extended trailer for Pokémon Pokopia, teasing a bit of the story that drives the game, a new character, a new look at the building mechanics, and even more as new Pokémon were revealed.

As a refresh, Pokémon Pokopia puts players in the role of a Ditto who’s decorating and creating a Pokémon utopia. In the latest trailer, there are hints that this Ditto is missing its trainer (or, alternatively, it could have fused with its trainer in some phenomenon like those we see in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series).

After seeing a Kanto Pokédex with Ditto and its trainer lying on the ground, Ditto transforms into something resembling a trainer. From there, it meets Professor Tangrowth.

Professor Tangrowth explains that the area used to be a bustling hub for humans, but it has since fallen into disarray, as evidenced by the broken Pokémon Center nearby. It then tasks the player with restoring the land for Pokémon.

This leads players to the Minecraft-mixed-Animal-Crossing gameplay that fans have seen in the past. However, a few new mechanics were shown off as Ditto encounters new Pokémon and learns new moves.

These include traversing the world as Lapras and Dragonite and tilling fields as Excadrill.

Crafting will also have a role, as players can create furniture, roads, bridges, and more to create the sprawling utopia area. These items can even be combined together to find new Pokémon friends. The example used in the video combines a chair and a fishing rod by the river to attract a Magikarp.

Pokémon can also interact with these objects or ask the player for requests, such as building roads or opening paths to new areas. Professor Tangrowth even has a request of its own — to see Pokémon and humans living together peacefully.

Pokémon can even help do things around the land, whether that’s building or taking care of the already-established fields.

Pokémon Pokopia will have a pretty deep multiplayer mode, where players can join each other to build and create things. Players can even GameShare the game and play with friends who don’t own it at the same time.

Last but not least is the Glow Pokémon at the end. These include a Smearguru (which looks like a Smeargle splattered with paint), a Mosslax (a Snorlax covered in Moss), and a Peakychu (an adorable light-colored Pikachu). It’s not clear what these Pokémon are quite yet, but they’ll appear in the story at some point. Here’s a look at them, along with artwork of Professor Tangrowth:
