Today PlayWay revealed a new simulation game supposedly in development, and it certainly features an interesting theme, Plane Graveyard Simulator.
The game is set in a titular plane graveyard, basically a massive site in the desert in which aircraft that have been retired are left to sit in the sun until they are finally scrapped.
The player does exactly that, using a variety of tools to dismantle these aircraft and sell the materials for scrap. The game also tasks you to drive vehicles to deliver parts for processing and managing your salvaging business.
The ultimate promise is being able to purchase aircraft that need to be refurbished and then restore them for sale to grow your empire. It’s pretty much a formula that we’ve seen many times but applied to aircraft.

Of course, this is PlayWay, and anyone who is familiar with the brand and its Games Incubator subsidiary knows that the announcement of a new and potentially interesting game is no guarantee that it’ll actually come out and be good. A quick look at their Steam listings shows that the nature of the approach is very much throwing pretty much everything at the wall and hoping it sticks.
The game has a Steam page already up, and I suppose you can wishlist it to increase the chance that enough resources are put behind it to make it an enjoyable game.
Despite its reputation, PlayWay did back a few really good games like the recently released UBOAT or the beloved House Flipper series, so you never know.
At the moment Plane Graveyard Simulator does not have an announced release date, and the developers do mention that it’s in the early stage of development, so it’s going to be a while.
