Today, Blizzard unveiled hero number 52, Shion, for its hit free-to-play MOBA, Overwatch.
The unveiling of Shion was accompanied by an animated cinematic, “End of the Line,” which establishes her backstory, design, and allegiance, leading into her official launch with Overwatch Season 3 on June 16, 2026.
Shion is a terrifying elder of the Japanese crime syndicate known as the Hashimoto Clan, resembling a humanoid Omnic. The cinematic confirms she is working alongside Mauga as she navigates the streets of Tokyo and a high-speed train while fighting Sojourn.
Her design features unique, affixed metallic plates and mask-like structures to mimic human facial expressions, though her mouth does not move when she speaks. She joins the Overwatch roster as an agility-focused, damage-per-second (DPS) hero.
“End of the Line” gives us a good look at her mechanics: she drives an Akira-style motorcycle that she can seemingly make explode with forward momentum, while her main weapons are dual-wielded pistols for fast-paced skirmishing, which she uses alongside high agility in her fight with Sojourn.
Overwatch Season 3: Into the Tiger’s Den officially launches on June 16, 2026, and runs through August 2026. The season is part of the ongoing Reign of Talon story arc and will introduce a new map, “Neon Junction.”
A fresh battle pass will launch with the season, accompanied by new Mythic skins, weapon skins, and collaborations. Overwatch is available to play for free on PC (via Battle.net and Steam), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch
