Last month, it was announced that the OWCS would be returning and would be launching a brand-new premier circuit. Today, the locations for the Overwatch 2 Champions Series 2025 were announced and will include China, Saudi Arabia, and Sweden.
The Champions Clash will host the top eight teams from across the globe, with two teams qualifying per OWCS Region (Japan, Korea and Pacific, EMEA, and North America), which is set to kick off in April 2025.
Overwatch 2 Champions Series 2025 is being run by ESL FACEIT Group, which is responsible for splitting the series into three stages, which you can see broken down below:
- Stage 1: Champions Clash – Hangzhou Esports Center, Hangzhou; China (April)
- Stage 2: Midseason Championship – Boulevard City, Riyadh; Saudi Arabia (July)
- Stage 3: World Finals – Stockholmsmässan, Stockholm; Sweden (November)
The Overwatch Champions Series was established last year, following the folding of the Overwatch League. After its first official season, the OWCS adjusted their format, changing to a promotion and relegation system while also introducing a partnership program where teams would receive proceeds from crowdfunded in-game team packs.
While we know that nine teams will be selected, not much else is known about the series, including who those teams will be. If the event is like the first season, it will likely be broadcast on YouTube and Twitch in North America and Europe, with platforms varying by region for Asia.
