Today, tinyBuild, which has also turned to publishing, announced one of their next publishing projects, Of Ash and Steel. The upcoming open-world RPG title will be coming to PC (Steam) in 2025 and is set to be developed by indie developer Fire & Frost Studios.
Inspired by classic fantasy RPGs, Of Ash and Steel places players in the shoes of a lowly adventurer trying to make a name for themselves in the once-prosperous realm of the Kingdom of the Seven. To do this, you’ll need to master the art of combat, find hidden treasure, and complete objectives, all without any map or quest markers to guide you.
You can check out the key features for Of Ash and Steel alongside the announcement trailer right down below:
- Master the Art of Combat: You are not a Legendary Hero by default in Of Ash and Steel. To become a true champion, you’ll need to learn the ropes and prove your might in battle, combining different combat stances and active skills with the surrounding environment to vanquish your foes. Tailor your fighting style to suit you, from agile swordsman to heavy armor-clad knight, or create something unique!
- Shape the Fate of the World: Grow stronger, survive, and forge alliances across the realm. Watch your actions impact the world around you and prove that even someone who has lost everything can become a force with the power to shape destiny.
- Explore Like You Used To: Of Ash and Steel has no marker system, and quests won’t lead you by the hand. Rediscover the joy of exploration and let curiosity be your guide. The world promises an immersive atmosphere full of dynamic weather, characters and music, with rich rewards for those who dare to uncover its secrets.
If tinyBuid sounds familiar to you, it is likely due to their success as developers. So far, they’ve been responsible for over a dozen titles, including hits like Hello Neighbor series, Graveyard Keeper, SpeedRunners, and DUCKSIDE. While Fire & Frost Studios is considerably newer by comparison, with only one tile (The Dark Defender) published so far, their mission to create a bridge between old and new-school games with a heavy emphasis on story is sure to turn a few heads.
