According to a Steam post by the developers, Norland patch 29, focused primarily on balance improvements while also adding in a few neat features, which you can see summarized below:

  • On easy difficulty, AI cities will limit the growth of their armies to 40-50 soldiers (applies only when starting a new game).
  • If a hunt fails for one of the lords (e.g., the lord is unconscious, unable to move, or has broken morale at the end of the hunt), the hunt is considered unsuccessful for both lords. They both receive a negative thought and a negative social opinion about their partner.
  • Added a Tier 3 equipment level in AI cities with crossbowmen, unlocked after reaching 60 population on medium and hardcore difficulty.
  • AI cities now rearm their troops to the current tier (depending on population: 0-40-60+ population) at a rate of 4 soldiers per day.

Alongside these new features, there have been plenty of quality-of-life changes. That includes simple things, like a special notification if a prisoner dies in a bandit camp or fixing first ambition so that it will now appear on the third day of the game.

Norland originally joined Steam early access back on Jul 18, 2024, finding success in the sim genre thanks to its heavy focus on complex stories. Gameplay revolves around letting you build civilizations by controlling a noble family, using their wealth and knowledge to tend to the needs of the people or make themselves even more successful.

Since then, Long Jaunt has released updates frequently based on user feedback. Last week, they added 13 new books, improved knowledge, and revealed a key binding menu.

It is currently available for Steam, starting at a price of $29.99.
