Nintendo Direct Announced for March 27

A Nintendo Direct has been scheduled for March 27 at 7 am PT, and the news explicitly states that it will focus on upcoming Nintendo Switch titles.

Nintendo took to X to announce the March 27 Nintendo Direct. This Direct will focus on upcoming Switch games instead of the upcoming Switch 2 (which will have its own direct next week on April 2).

It’s important to note that this is not a Partner Direct — the games discussed tomorrow will likely be first-party titles or other major titles for the Switch. These are franchises like Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Splatoon, Animal Crossing, and Pokémon. Several of these franchises could be featured, though some (like Pokémon) get their own franchise-specific Direct.

For other things, like indie games or games made by other developers and publishers, Nintendo has Indie World Directs and Partner Showcases.

Even though the Direct won’t include information about the Switch 2, it may include information on games that will be released on the next Nintendo console. For example, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild launched on the Wii U as well as the Nintendo Switch. Some of the titles discussed tomorrow could do the same, or they could all be the last bits of first-party games on the Switch.

As of right now, there’s not really anything coming up for first-party Nintendo games. This isn’t too abnormal though. The Directs generally include information on games releasing throughout the year, and the Switch 2’s upcoming release will inevitably impact what’s on the horizon.

Fans can tune into the Nintendo Direct tomorrow at 7 am PT here.
