New Indie Gaming Publisher Upstart Games Announced

Today, Upstart Games officially announced its new indie video game publishing label.

In the official press release, it was announced that Upstart Games will focus on delivering imaginative, high-quality experiences for both players and partners. The team comprises former industry professionals who aim to combine creativity, technical expertise, and player-first thinking to help indie developers craft games that stand out in both concept and execution.

When talking about their mission, Director Jared Merritt said the following:

“At Upstart Games, our mission isn’t to chase the spotlight—it’s to help others shine. We’re shifting our focus from solely developing our titles to empowering fellow studios through creative support, technical expertise, and a genuine passion for collaboration. When great teams come together, great games follow.”

Despite just forming, Upstart Games already has two titles under its label: Night Crew and Ecommunicado. The former will be developed by Upstart, while the latter will be created by Redway, which is also their debut title.

Night Crew is a horror game all about a lo-fi mall with high-key problems, featuring foul creatures that roam the halls, and management still expects you to mop the floor, even though the floor ate Gary. Ecommunicado is a Rogue-lite deck-builder set in the gritty neo-noir world of assassins and killers, where you play as one of 5 unique specialists, power up with permanent upgrades; beat the game, and then strap in for the next ride with end-game modifiers for near limitless challenge.

At the moment, neither title has an exact release date, though you can keep an eye out for each on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and Nintendo Switch.
