The Network of Academic and Scholastic Esports Federations (NASEF) and The Alliance of Electronic Sports of Montenegro have established NASEF Europe, a group dedicated to bringing esports to academic environments throughout Europe.

The goal of NASEF, and by extension the new branch, is to promote a sense of community, educational opportunities, and individual growth. There are four goals NASEF Europe has to accomplish this:

  • Promoting scholastic esports as a path for both individual growth and academic excellence
  • Teaching educators and providing resources to integrate esports into curricula
  • Creating an inclusive environment with a diverse community
  • Aligning with international NASEF standards and collaborating with other NASEF organizations

Gerald Solomon, the Executive Director of NASEF, had plenty to say about why esports in academics is important:

“Esports not only fosters camaraderie and competition but also acts as a conduit for learning in fields such as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), digital literacy, and soft skills such as leadership, communication, and teamwork. We are honored to bring our years of scholastic experience in esports to support NASEF Europe as it works to empower students and educators alike.”

The President of the Alliance of Electronic Sports of Montenegro, Filip Šoć, also spoke about the new organization:

“Today marks a big day for esports in Europe as we embark on a journey with NASEF forming NASEF Europe together. I believe that together we will be able to do many things together in regards to gamification, education, and growing the esports community. It is my honor that the root of this seed has been planted in Montenegro and soon it will spread across Europe. An exciting chapter is ahead of us.”

NASEF has been doing work like this since 2018, though Solomon had been doing similar work under another company for fourteen years before that. The Alliance of Electronic Sports of Montenegro is an extension of NASEF that was established last year.
