Today, via a post on the official PlayStation Blog, Sony Vice President of Global Marketing Isabelle Tomatis revealed plans for PlayStation’s 30-year celebration, though its official anniversary date isn’t until December. While a good bit of the post was dedicated to digital game soundtracks coming to Spotify this October, the biggest news revealed in the post is that My First GT Gran Turismo 7 is getting a demo this holiday.

My First GT is a free trial version of Gran Turismo 7 that is designated to welcome new players with diverse sets of skills to the game. It is set to include fan-favorite cars, tracks, and race events that evoke the nostalgia and excitement of the very first GT experience and will be available on both the PS5 and PS4.

While a demo might not seem like a huge deal, this is the first one the Gran Turismo series has had since Gran Turismo Sport held an online open beta before its launch in 2017. Alongside the soundtrack and racing simulation info, a new collection of products known as Shapes of Play was also revealed:

  • Shapes of Play: Battle is a board game where you can challenge a friend to line up four different shapes of the same color on the board to win.
  • Shapes of Play: Create is a set of magnetic blocks that you can position in any direction to create fun shapes.
  • Shapes of Play: Recharge lets you experience a new way to recharge between games, especially after that tough boss battle.

Shapes of Play will launch in December 2024 through the PlayStation Direct website. For more information on this, check out the full blog post linked above.
