The expansion, which will add a whole new layer of gameplay with naval warfare, will release on November 26. It’ll be priced at $24.99 or €24.99, depending on where you live.

It’s coming to PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5.

It’s worth mentioning that the expansion will also bring a whole new faction, the Viking-inspired Nords. The map will also change rather considerably to accommodate the new naval gameplay.

The announcement was accompanied by an extensive gameplay video showing a full battle, and it’s definitely impressive.

You can watch it below to take a look at what awaits us when the DLC is released.

We get to see how players are able to determine their order of battle, like in ground warfare, and directly control ships from the rudder for smaller ships, while bigger ones will respond to your commands from the quarterdeck.

There is a wind dial that lets you visualize the direction and power of the wind, with different sail types reacting to wind conditions differently. Ships can also be driven by oars, which let you move when there’s no wind. You can also rotate in place and go in reverse.

When battle engages, the rest of your fleet will follow your orders, and you can even take control of a ballista. Fire projectiles can burn the sails or even whole ships.

Of course, you can also fight in close quarters, by ramming other ships (with damage depending on weight, momentum, and angle of impact).

Combat can continue on the bridge following boarding actions, and you can commandeer enemy ships after clearing their decks. Every ship has a deck capacity, and if it carries more troops, they will join the fight from below as reinforcement.

Battles end when all enemy ships are destroyed or by killing all enemy troops, whichever comes first. After the battle, you can claim captured ships that are still in decent condition, depending on your skills and perks.
