TaleWorlds Entertainment has announced that War Sails, the expansion for Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord, will be delayed until early Fall 2025, pushing the original June 17 release date back a few months.
According to a letter to players on Steam, this decision came as the team came to the conclusion that War Sails wouldn’t be ready in the next few weeks. The quality of the DLC wouldn’t be up to par, and the team will be able to use the extra time to really polish War Sails while improving and maintaining Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord at the same time.
Soon, TaleWorlds plans to release an updated timeline for the DLC. Originally, when War Sails was first announced, developers gave players an updated idea of what was coming to the main game. Now that the Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord War Sails DLC has been delayed, the other adjustments to the game may be affected.
For now, players will have to wait for more news from TaleWorlds. Luckily, the developer has plans for blogs, behind-the-scenes looks, new gameplay reveals, and additional War Sails content to share while waiting for the release.
The War Sails DLC introduces naval combat to Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord, along with a new Viking-inspired faction and a new region. This will have a pretty big impact on things like trade, warfare, and diplomacy.
It also includes a new story-based questline where players will have to face off against pirates to learn how naval combat works.
