According to the tracking website SteamDB, the game has been played by a peak of 1,307,976 players at the same around the late morning/early afternoon in the West, which makes sense as it corresponds to the evening in Japan.

Of course, these are numbers limited to PC, so the effective total including consoles is likely to be much, much higher.

This all-time peak is the sixth ever, following PUBG, Black Myth: Wukong, Palworld, Counter-Strike 2, and Lost Ark.

Monster Hunter Wilds Stats
Stats and chart by SteamDB.

In comparison, Monster Hunter World ranks 36th with 334,684 concurrent players and Monster Hunter Rise ranks 62nd with 231,360 concurrent players.

That being said, this is not exactly an apples-to-apples comparison considering that Wilds is the first Monster Hunter game released on PC on day one, and being part of the initial marketing push definitely helps the game’s success on the platform.

Games released on PC after the console launch tend to see more limited success because they are already “old” when they reach the platform, and no marketing push is as effective as the first.

It’ll be interesting to see what the game does in terms of numbers over the next few weeks and months. It’s very likely that we can expect a triumphant announcement from Capcom with total sales numbers soon enough.

Besides its PC release, Monster Hunter Wilds is also available for PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
