Mojang announced the release date for the latest Game Drop for Minecraft and a significant visual upgrade for the Bedrock Edition.
Both will be released on June 17, in just a few days.
The Game Drop, named “Chase the Sky,” brings a significant new feature focusing on ghasts, which can be turned into a flying mount capable of carrying several players and even other things like animals.
A friend locator bar will help you find your friends in the overworld much more easily. Five more ambient music tracks will be added (alongside a new music disc titled “Tears”).
Saddles will finally become craftable, and leashes will be changed so that you can attach animals to your flying ghast, even multiple at the same time.
The update will also come with the Vibrant Visuals graphics upgrade, which will initially come just to the Bedrock edition. Further info about its release in the Java version will come at a later time.
You can check out a trailer below showing what the Vibrant Visuals upgrade looks like, albeit it’s perhaps a bit more humorous than illustrative. Considering that it’s Minecraft, it’s not such a bad thing, I suppose.
Minecraft is currently available on basically every platform with a chip inside. The ultra-popular game surpassed 300 million copies sold last year and is one of the most successful games of all time.
The franchise has become a cultural phenomenon over the past few years, so much so that it has recently debuted on the Silver screen with a dedicated movie.
