Microsoft Flight Simulator has released World Update 18, bringing better resolution to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Plus, the Focke-Wulf Fw 200 Condor is soaring in as well, bringing the historical German aircraft to the sim.
World Update 18 is free and lets players explore Germany, Austria, and Switzerland like never before. Dubbed DACH for Deutschland, Austria, and Confoederatio Helvetica, the new content covers gorgeous landscapes like historic cathedrals, the Swiss Alps, mountain lakes, and modern architecture.
Orbx Simulation Systems, Bing Maps, Vexcel Imaging, Maxar Technologies, and Gaya Simulations helped bring these areas to life.
There are three new airports between the countries: Austria’s Salzburg Airport (LOWS), Germany’s Munich Airport (EDDM), and Switzerland’s Bern Airport (LSZB). There are also 10 TIN cities (highly-detailed and captured cities) with World Update 18:
- Linz, Austria
- Salzburg, Austria
- Vienna, Austria
- Berlin, Germany
- Frankfurt am Main, Germany
- Hanau, Germany
- Karow, Germany
- Potsdam, Germany
- Bern, Switzerland
- Zürich, Switzerland
The new airports and cities aren’t all to see – there are 116 points of interest as well. Austria has 28 of them, 42 of them are in Germany, and 36 are in Switzerland.
There are also nine new activities to do:
- Three discovery flights (Vienna, Austria; Zürich, Switzerland; Frankfurt am Main, Germany)
- Three landing challenges [F/A-18E Super Hornet at Germany’s Peenemünde Airfield (EDCP); a Daher TBM 930 at Switzerland’s Ambri Airport (LSPM); DG Aviation LS8-18 sailplane at Austria’s Trieben Airfield (LOGI)]
- Three bush trips (Germany’s Coast, Switzerland, and Austria)
