Today Microsoft released just another World Update for Microsoft Flight Simulator, inviting users to visit a renewed version of the United Kingdom and Ireland.
This update, which is the 17th since the release of the simulator in 2020, is completely free as usual, despite offering a significant amount of content.
In order to get it, when you launch the simulator you’ll have to download a relatively small 657 MB patch, but that’s not all. You’ll then need to head to the in-sim marketplace, find “World Update XVII: United Kingdom & Ireland” and download the package from there.

The update itself is definitely not small, and it’ll ask for 10.51 GB of your bandwidth, while its full installed size is a whopping 19.60 GB. Luckily, Microsoft has promised to address the issue of install sizes with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
On the other hand, the content is quite rich, including the following:
- 16 TIN cities:
- Bristol, Brighton, Greater London, Heathrow, Leeds-Bradford, Liverpool, Newcastle-Sunderland, Welling, and Wembley in England
- Cork, Dublin, and Cliffs of Moher / Liscannor in Ireland
- Edinburgh and Glasgow in Scotland
- Cardiff in Wales
- Gibraltar
- 79 points of interest (POIs):
- 31 in England, 13 in Ireland, 5 in Isle of Man, 11 in Northern Ireland, 1 in Orkney / Scotland, 9 in Scotland, and 10 in Wales.
- 5 handcrafted airports:
- Farnborough Airport (EGLF) and London Stansted Airport (EGSS) in England
- Cork Airport (EICK) in Ireland
- Sumburgh Airport (EGPB) in Scotland
- Cardiff (EGFF) in Wales

Microsoft has been releasing free content for the simulator since its release, and it appears to be continuing to do so despite the fact that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is slated for release very soon, on November 19, 2024.
Microsoft Flight Simulator is currently available for PC and Xbox Series X|S, on top of Microsoft’s cloud gaming service. It’s also included in Game Pass.
