Today Aerosoft announced the release date of its massive Frankfurt Airport add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator.
The most relevant German airport (marked by the ICAO code EDDF and IATA code FRA) will release very soon, on September 5, 2024.
On top of that, we also hear that there will be events on both VATSIM and IVAO (the two largest virtual ATC networks in the industry) around the launch date, so if you like to fly with human ATC, you should find plenty of traffic.
The developers confirmed that the airport will be ported to the upcoming Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, but don’t know what the process will look like as the SDK has not been released to developers just yet. They also don’t know how long it’ll take, for now.
The news comes with another extensive video (the third of a series of which you can already enjoy the first and the second). Apparently, the numbers at the end were simply a count-down, so we can expect a fourth video before the airport releases.
You can enjoy it below.
With nearly 60 million passengers served in 2023, Frankfurt is the main hub in Germany, located just a few kilometers from the country’s fifth-largest city.
Not only is it the main base of the German flag carrier Lufthansa, but it also hosts a multitude of airlines from all over the world, including those handling passengers and cargo.
