Formally numbered 1.6.3.0, the update comes with a ton of changes, including plenty of stability and performance improvements and fixes.

Interestingly, a Community2024 folder has been added to facilitate the sharing of add-ons with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.

Plenty of aircraft received improvements and changes, including the Airbus Helicopters H125, the Boeing 737 MAX 8, the Boeing F/A-18E, the De Havilland Canada CL-415, the Guimbal Cabri G2, the Heart Aerospace ES-30, the Hot Air Balloon, the Hot Air Balloon FlyDOO, the Junkers F13, the MX Aircraft Company MXS-R, and the Zivko Aeronautics Edge 540.

The rest of the lineip also received indirect improvements via fixes to the electricity and pneumatics systems, on top of the avionics.

More improvements include physics, the EFB tablet, ATC, the Career Mode, airports, virtual reality, and much more.

It’s worth mentioning that Sim Update 4 may include additional changes when it officially releases, as more are usually added in subsequent beta phases.

Of course, the patch also comes with a generous serving of bug fixes, which never hurts. If you want more details, you can check out the official patch notes.

The beta is open to everyone who has purchased Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, both on PC and Xbox. To join, you need to opt in with the Xbox Insider Hub app.

That being said, keep in mind that this is indeed a beta, so unexpected behaviors and issues are part of the testing process. If you’d rather have a stable and relatively predictable experience, you may want to stick with Sim Update 3 until Sim Update 4 is officially released.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is available for PC and Xbox Series X|S. If you’d like to learn more, you can check out our recent interview with Head of Microsoft Flight Simulator Jorg Neumann.
