During a panel at FSWeekend in Lelystad, which Simulation Daily attended, Microsoft had quite a few reveals about upcoming updates for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and even two shadow drops.
First of all, since FS Weekend is in the Netherlands, we get the reveal of City Update 14: the Netherlands and Belgium.
You can check out the trailer below, showcasing the new vistas that we’ll enjoy in the simulator. Even more exciting is the fact that the update is available now at no additional cost.
We also get the announcement of the Aircraft and Avionics Update 4, focusing on European payware planes, including the ATR42 and 72, which will become native for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 with plenty of new features.
More significant updates will come for the Antonov AN-2, the Fokker F7, the Latécoère 631, and the Savoia-Marchetti S.55 and S.55X. All will become native for MSFS 2024 and get new features.
The update will also include the Avidyne IFD 540 and 550 avionics, which will be available to all third-party developers. They’re made by Working Title and modeled by FlightFX.
It will be released together with Sim Update 5 in a few weeks. The plan is to update all the payware MSFS 2020 aircraft to the MSFS 2024 standard
We then get the announcement of the brand new Local Legend 23, the Fokker F27 Friendship. It’s also available now as a paid DLC, and you can see it in action below.
Lastly, we hear that PS VR2 support is coming to the PS5 version of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 with Sim Update 5, which is coming in a few weeks, as mentioned above.
