The A320 family by Fenix Simulations is one of the most complex and beloved series of aircraft add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, and it has now been made compatible with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

The announcement mentions that compatibility is considered “experimental” for now, as issues may be present, but the developer didn’t just port the MSFS 2020 version over. They actually rebuilt the package with the 2024 SDK and took advantage of several of the new sim’s features.

Further work will be done once the developer has more time with the new platform.

This comes with a new update to the aircraft also for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, including support for 4X SimRate (for now experimental), attempts to further fix wingflex and Fly By Wire oscillations, a complete rework of the fuel flow math, changes to FBW normal law and hand flight feel to achieve more weighting and inertia, and a complete rebuild of the airmass temperature simulation.

There are a few known issues on Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, as follows.

  • We’ve only had MSFS 2024 for a few days, so there may be some issues – please be patient with us as we learn this new sim platform alongside you.
  • To enter the cockpit from the outside, you will need to press Shift + C (or whatever you’ve assigned to “TAKE CONTROL OF CHARACTER”). We plan to add more click spots at a later stage.
  • Liveries installed via the livery manager and externally won’t have thumbnails. We plan to update this later.
  • Lights are too dim during the day (affects most MSFS 2024 aircraft).
  • Some sounds disappear occasionally (known MSFS 2024 issue).
  • Detail/normal maps are missing on some surfaces (known MSFS 2024 issue, fix due in the first major patch).
  • Registration/SELCAL plate shows with black text.
  • Cockpit display brightness and reflectivity inconsistent at times.
  • Clicking on the EFB sometimes takes a few attempts.
  • The installer takes slightly longer at the “scanning” stage, this is something we’ll optimise.

You can find the full patch notes for version V2.3.0.524 on the official site.

Both Microsoft Flight Simulator and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 are currently available for PC and Xbox Series X|S. if you want to see some of the differences, you can enjoy our video and screenshot comparison.

It’s worth reminding that Simulation Daily won’t publish a review of MSFS 2024, as we do not review games. We prefer to provide you with the tools to judge whether a game or a simulator is for you or not by yourself.
