New changes are coming to how Marvelous Inc. publishes games in the West ahead of major franchise milestones, expansion efforts, and high-budget games. This affects Marvelous USA and XSEED Games.
Marvelous plans to show a unified company in the West, separating the games that Marvelous USA and XSEED publish. Marvelous USA will continue focusing on major Marvelous series, such as Story of Seasons, Rune Factory, and Daemon X Machina.
It’ll also publish the arcade games coming to the West, including the first one, Naruto Emblem Battle. Marvelous has published several arcade units in Japan, including several Pokemon titles. Now, it’s coming to North America under Marvelous USA. The Western arcade business from Marvelous is expanded to expand in the future as well.
While Marvelous USA focuses on Marvelous IP and arcade machines, XSEED will publish smaller independent titles. Games that fall under this category are ones like Sakuna: Of Rice and Rain and Potionomics. Upcoming titles that XSEED will publish include Moonlight Peaks and The Big Catch.
XSEED will also be in charge of publishing Japanese IPs that are being brought to the West. It’s done this in the past with titles like Granblue Fantasy: Versus and Ys.
The split in content leaves room for each publisher to hone in and focus on their respective markets. This comes as both Story of Seasons and Rune Factory come up on major anniversaries in 2026. Story of Seasons celebrates 30 while Rune Factory celebrates 20. Marvelous can focus on leveraging these anniversaries for new releases (or re-releases) while XSEED can continue the hunt for outstanding indies.
