Manor Lords, the medieval city-builder simulation game, is getting a new update as it celebrates over 2.5 million sales.
Update 0.8.004 brings Manor Lords to Unreal Engine 5, which will fix many bugs and crashing issues. This also makes the game look better, improving visuals like weather and shadows.
Several new systems and mechanics are part of the update as well. A new fishing system brings the fishing pond node, creating the fisherman job and food that features fish. This system is complex, as seasonal patterns affect fish reproduction and how fisherman do their craft.
There’s also a food spoilage mechanic. Food will now spoil and players can store and prepare it in different ways to affect the shelf life. Butchers are also able to turn extra livestock into meat.
There’s also a new ranged mercenary unit, the Huntsmen. Along with it is the Crossbow, a new weapon that players can craft at the Bowyer’s Workshop.
Multiple workplaces and reserves are getting production limits as well. This will prioritize resources as well.
A new Trade Overview panel helps players keep track of their transactions. These are sorted by region and are on the development screen.
Several performance updates outside of the Unreal Engine 5 ones are also part of the update. A major one optimizes CPU usage and is especially noticeable in large cities. Balance updates were also introduced to help the new systems. Players can read the full patch notes here for all of the Manor Lords update 0.8.004 notes.
Manor Lords was released in April earlier this year, and its 2.5 million sales came quickly. The first million sales happened in 48 hours, and the second million came just three weeks later.
