Today publisher Bushiroad and developer Frontwing announced that the visual novel “Lilac” will be released in 2025.
The game was announced in January 2024 and was supposed to come out last year. It’ll launch on Steam and it’s actually based on the stage play with the same title written by Yuka Kono, who is also co-writing the scenario of the visual novel together with Asou Ei.
The character design is by illustrator and mangaka Ooyari Ashito, known for Eiyuu Senki, Little Witch Romanesque, and more.
We also hear that the theme song “cult à la carte” will be performed by the group AsMR, portrayed below.
The story is set in a magic school created by the great wizard Lilac, where both humans and wizards (editor’s note: wizards are described as a race) are accepted and coexist. They form a contract called “familia” to create strong bonds and nurture their powers.
At the school, students from all walks of life live together and hold their hopes, dreams, and ambitions in their young hearts.
A wizard born in a prominent family but about to drop out due to their academic failures and a human who hates wizards born into a poor family meet and end up forming a “false Familia contract” despite their differences.
The game depicts everyday life within extraordinary life and the story of a human and a wizard in an interracial school.
Incidentally, this isn’t the only visual novel by Frontwing in the news recently, as we just heard about Kanade, also written by Asou Ei.
In other visual novel news, Never 7: The End of Infinity and Ever 17: The Out of Infinity by Kotaro Uchikoshi are getting remasters. Petit Depotto’s Gnosia is also getting an anime series.
