Today, indie developer BerkBox announced that its upcoming flight simulator, Legendary Pilots, will launch is Steam on April 21, 2026.
In Legendary Pilots, players jump into the exciting life and career of becoming a pilot. Gameplay delivers a rich, immersive experience that blends hands-on flying with career progression and airline management, prioritizing fun over realism and featuring unique, retro pixel art visuals inspired by classic aviation and management games.
The career mode sees players advance from novice pilot to seasoned professional to airplane mogul, planning their routes and maintaining their aircraft. Whether flying short regional hops or building a reputation across a living network of AI-controlled air traffic and rival companies, players are constantly working toward the next milestone in their careers.
Legendary Pilots features multiple flyable aircraft, turbo-props and regional jets, simplified navigation systems (like the radio compass), and even a competitive, dynamic airline rankings system. You’ll even be able to own your fleet by purchasing aircraft, keeping them in top condition, and making strategic decisions that impact performance and profitability.
Alongside flying and managing your aircraft, you’ll also be responsible for routes, passengers, and crew, providing another challenging dimension to building your flight empire. The sim is being developed by a two-man team at Barkbox, who, despite their small size, have created games with over 20 million downloads across platforms (all titles, all versions).
