Riot has been releasing back-to-back information in the past 24 hours on what League of Legends 2025 Season 2 will look like, including details on the Spirit Blossom themes, new Brawl mode, updates to griefing and inting detection, and even the Patch 25.08 notes.
One of the most exciting things Riot discussed is the Spirit Blossom Beyond/Season 2 updates. The start of 2025 came with a lot of changes, and players haven’t been sure what will change as Season 2 comes in.
To start with, the map will be changing to match Spirit Blossom Beyond. Players can battle it out on a Summoner’s Rift that has a pretty blue tint to it, though that’s all Riot has shown off so far.

According to a massive dev update yesterday, Riot doesn’t want to change things up too much every season. Larger things that will disrupt the meta will be held until the start of each year. This keeps the game more stable for those who want to be competitive.
However, some changes are coming to early-game objectives. Void Grubs are spawning later, and only one void mite will be spawning that contains all three Grubs.
However, Atakhan is being adjusted. The monster will only have one form, Thornbound Atakhan. He will spawn the Bloody Roses that Ruinous Atakhan spawned while also giving buffs to the team that kills him. Additionally, the team will receive all unclaimed Roses, and all of their Bloody Petals will turn to Spirit Petals (which have a 25% increased effect along with a buff that slows/damages nearby enemies when a champion is killed).
Rift Herald will now spawn at 15 minutes, and her damage is much harder to avoid. The bounty system will also be adjusted to be a bit more accurate.
Season 2 will also see a few quality-of-life changes, like a new spectator UI (goodbye gray screen simulator), and new kill sound effects specific for each player that plays when they’ve participated in a kill.
Skins that are coming with League of Legends 2025 Season 2 include an expansion of the Spirit Blossom skin line with Ashe, Irelia, Bard, Varus, and Zyra. Several of these were very clear after the cinematic trailer that Riot released earlier this week. Additionally, Ivern and Lux will get Spirit Blossom skins in the Battle Pass.

Variety skins are also coming to League of Legends. These are one-time skins that may or may not fit into a skin line. The first of these is Pool Party Twitch (which fits into the Pool Party skin line), who will be in the Battle Pass.

Other skins coming include Sahn Uzal Morderkaiser and an Exalted skin for Morgana. Additionally, 2025 Season 2 Act 2 will include a Prestige skin for Zed in the Battle Pass, along with Aphelios’ inclusion in the Mythic Shop Prestige skin.
Act 2 will also include the release of Yunara, a brand-new champion, and a new Hall of Legends celebration for a Pro player in May. Plus, there will be another metagame. More details will be revealed in the future, but it will be different than The Demon’s Hand.
Next up on the list of League of Legends 2025 Season 2 updates is the new Brawl mode, which will go live with Patch 25.10.
Brawl transports players to Bandle City for a five-versus-five game mode on a new map. This is supposed to be a quick game mode where players focus on killing each other and pushing the minions to the enemies’ base (which is very close by).
It’s like ARAM, but players can pick their champions and not stress about towers or any form of strategy.
Riot acknowledges that Summoner’s Rift has a hefty learning curve to play and enjoy, and it knows it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. Brawl is a new way for players to enjoy League of Legends who otherwise wouldn’t.
In Brawl, each team will have 250 health points. A team wins by reducing the enemy team’s health points to 0, with points decreasing as follows:
- Takedowns are worth 5 points
- When enemies are “not at low health,” takedowns on minions are worth 1 point
- Minions that enter the enemy’s Bandle portal are worth 1 point each
There are also several buffs that are meant to balance things out so a team doesn’t snowball right off the bat. For more info on all of these, check out the Brawl 101 breakdown from Riot.

Riot is also looking to drop the banhammer down on griefers and inters as it turns its anti-detection eye towards them. While it’s not explaining exactly how they’re doing this (to keep the bad-attitude players from finding ways around it immediately), it did explain the ideas behind the changes and what it wants to achieve.
For starters, Patch 25.09 will include an improved detection plan for griefers/trolls. These are players who purposefully try to ruin games in ways that get around the standard ban detection, such as running around in the base instead of being perfectly still.
This isn’t just for games that end in a loss — Riot is looking at players who make the game an unenjoyable experience by trolling their team.
Riot has been testing this system out, and the results are pretty high. They’re confident they aren’t seeing too many false positives, but the number of bans that will go out is about 10x more per day, according to the tests.
Riot is also looking at ways to improve its skill-based matchmaking. New updates to its True Skill 2 evaluation system are on the horizon, and players can learn about it here in the latest update. Additionally, as a thank you to players who do well within the Honor System, Riot is looking at better rewards.
Many of the above updates were discussed in a dev blog from Riot Pabro and Riot Meddler. Players can view it below:
