The 2025 Season of League of Legends is bringing changes across the esports world, and the EMEA league has explained just how the LEC will change as part of it.

To kick things off, the split structure is changing to a three-split format instead of a Season Finals. These three splits will be Winter, Spring, and Summer, which matches the ranked changes for 2025 as well. Each of these splits will have a unique format, with the first Winter Split having the Fearless Draft.

Other than the introduction of the Fearless Draft, the Winter Split will remain the same. There will be three weeks of a single round-robin group with best-of-one matches. The top eight teams from this will go on to a double-elimination Playoff series, which will have best-of-three matches and best-of-five matches. A Winter Split Final will determine the winner, who will compete in the new international event later that year.

The 2025 LEC Winter Split will start on January 18.

The 2025 LEC Spring Split will include more best-of-three matches. There will be a seven-week regular season where all LEC teams will play nine best-of-three matches in a single round-robin. Instead of eight teams making it to Playoffs, only six will. The Playoff matches will still be a double-elimination bracket, but they’ll all be best-of-five matches.

The winner of the Spring Split, along with the second-place team, will head to MSI.

The 2025 LEC Summer Split will look a bit different. The teams will be drafted into two groups, with every team playing best-of-three matches against the other teams in its group. The top two teams from each group will go directly to the Playoffs, while the third and fourth-place teams from each group will play each other.

The top two teams from these best-of-three matches will head to the Playoffs as well. From there, the six teams will compete in best-of-five matches in a double elimination tournament. The winners here will head to Worlds 2025 to represent EMEA.

The Summer Split will also host the LEC roadshow. Additionally, a handful of LEC games through every Split will be in-person locally, giving fans across the region a chance to see their teams play in person.

The last (yet most arguably important) update is that the LEC teams will play nearly all of their matches on the live patch. There are a few exceptions, such as a patch rolling out in the middle of a Playoff series.
