The results for the company as a whole, according to the press release, involve sales at 90,039 million yen (up 24.0% year-on-year), while business profit was 25,149 million yen (up 46.6% year-on-year).

Konami mentions that this was driven by the core content of the Digital Entertainment Business (which includes video games and Yu-Gi-Oh TCG) continuing to perform well.

We also hear that both revenue and profit broke records for a first quarter, and operating profit was a record for any given quarter.

Speaking of the Digital Entertainment business, revenue was 64,202 million yen (up 33.4% year-on-year) and business profit was 23,815 million yen (up 57.7% year-on-year)

Among the drivers of this success, we find eFootball 2024, which “has performed well due to the excitement during the final stages of the non-virtual football leagues in each country” helped by additional features and in-game events.

On top of that, the Power Pros (Powerful Pro Yakyu) franchise is said to have drawn “massive attention” due to events and campaigns featuring Los Angeles Dodgers player Shohei Ohtani.

The company also boasted several eSports initiatives for both Power Pros and eFootball. Konami has been focused on eSports for quite some time, and it seems to be paying dividends.

If you’d like to hear more about gaming industry financial results, several have already been announced and we have dedicated reports, including Capcom, Koei Tecmo, Microsoft, and Electronic Arts.
