While the Middle-earth franchise, made famous by J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, is incredibly popular, its appeal in gaming has been somewhat underutilized, but a new challenger has entered the ring.
Today, Warhorse Studios has announced that it’s working on a new open-world RPG set in Tolkien’s fantasy world, and the studio’s pedigree certainly gives us cause for hope and celebration.
The developer based in Prague, Czech Republic, is known for the two games it developed and successfully launched, Kingdom Come: Deliverance and its sequel, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
Below you can read the announcement in its entirety.
“You might have heard the rumours, it’s time to reveal what we are working on.
An open world Middle-earth RPG.
A new Kingdom Come adventure. We’re excited to tell you more when the time is right.”
As you can see, Kingdom Come fans shouldn’t feel abandoned, as the developer is not going to drop its magnum opus following the recent Mysteria Ecclesiae DLC.
As a matter of fact, another Kingdom Come adventure is in development, and it’ll be interesting to see what it’ll be all about. For now, we can only wait and see, although the prospect of both games is certainly tantalizing.
If you haven’t played Warhorse’s games just yet, Kingdom Come: Deliverance is available for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Its sequel is available only for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Platforms for the new games have not been announced, and we don’t know the release windows for either games.
