Kenny Omega has made his triumphant return to professional wrestling at Wrestle Dynasty in Tokyo, and his entrance was worthy of a Warrior of Light.

The popular 41-year-old professional wrestler returned to the ring today after a prolonged absence during which he underwent treatment for diverticulitis and won his main event match against Gabe Kidd at Wrestle Dynasty, hosted at the prestigious Tokyo Dome venue in Japan.

His epic entrance likely sounded rather familiar to fans of Final Fantasy XIV and Final Fantasy XIV, as the music was created by the two games’ beloved composer, Masayoshi Soken.

It wasn’t the only presence related to Final Fantasy, as the series’ original composer Nobuo Uematsu also lent his voice to a spoken line played during the entrance.

If that wasn’t enough, the vocals were provided by Jason Charles Miller, whom Final Fantasy XIV fans likely know very well for his songs in Shadowbringer and Endwalker.

You can watch it below, courtesy of the show’s organizer, New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW).

Kenny Omega himself announced the collaboration with the beloved artists in a post on X (formerly Twitter) yesterday.

“Before my return tomorrow, I want to announce that I’m debuting a new entrance at the Tokyo Dome. A new song created by the amazing Final Fantasy 14 & 16 composer Masayoshi Soken, with vocals by Jason Miller and a special voice by the legendary Nobuo Uematsu. I hope you enjoy.”

Indeed we enjoyed it. Now all we need is a boss fight with this music.

The wrestler, who is known as a dedicated gamer, isn’t new to nods to the Final Fantasy series. His own stage name is inspired by the Omega Weapon and his signature finishing move is named “One-Winged Angel” as a homage to Final Fantasy VII’s Sephiroth.

His entrance at Wrestle Kingdom 17 two years ago also made every Sephiroth fan proud, as you can see below.

Final Fantasy XIV is currently available for PC, PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X|S. The latest expansion “Dawntrail” was released in early July 2024, and pretty much single-handedly propped up Square Enix’s recent financial results.

Final Fantasy XVI was originally released only for PS5 in 2013, but a PC version has finally been launched last month.
