Kaiju No. 8 The Game Gets Release Date

Kaiju No.8 The Game

Today, Akatsuki Games announced that Kaiju No. 8 The Game has a global release date, and it’s quite soon.

As the title indicates, this is a free-to-play game for iOS, Android, and PC via Steam based on the popular anime and manga series. It will release on August 31 globally.

Kaiju No. 8 The Game boasts “high-end graphics” and a turn-based RPG battle system. It’ll also let you relive the story of the anime. Speaking of the anime, the same Japanese voice actors also reprise their roles in the game.

To accompany the announcement, a trailer was released and you can check it out below.

A new key visual artwork has also been released to celebrate.

If you’re unfamiliar with Kaiju No. 8, it originated from a manga by Naoya Matsumoto, serialized on Shueisha’s Shounen Jump+. It lasted five years and ended its serialization only last month.

An anime series has also been launched, debuting in the spring season of 2024. A second cour has just started and is currently ongoing. The animation is by the famous studio Production I.G.

Considering the mortality rate of free-to-play games nowadays, we’ll have to see if the popularity of the original IP will be enough to help this title take off in a very crowded market.

Two spin-off manga series and a light novel have also been published, so the jump to video games was pretty much inevitable.

In other free-to-play news, Honkai: Star Rail just revealed Version 3.5, while Muv-Luv: Girls Garden is still in its pre-registration phase, and has just broken 200,000.
