JDM: Japanese Drift Master is set to take place in the open-world, fictional Japanese prefecture Guntama, which features over 250 km of roads, famous tourist landmarks, legendary car enthusiast spots, and more for you to explore with brands like Nissan, Honda, and Mazda. The narrative follows Touma, a Polish drifter who has come to Japan to get a fresh start.

Players will start the campaign riding out of Touma’s garage, where you’ll be given a story event marked on the map. Once you interact with it, a manga page will break down the current plot events, and the race will begin.

After you complete your first race in JDM: Japanese Drift Master, the open world of Guntama is yours to explore. Once you’ve got your fill of exploring between missions, you’ll be given a new marker to head to in order to progress the main story.

While most of the story’s events will take place throughout Guntama, some will occur on dedicated racing tracks where you’ll be tasked with finishing drifting events, with the winner being decided by a style points system. Each time you finish one, you’ll then have access to visit them from the open-world hub at any point.

Other vague story points, like working at a sushi restaurant, were also hinted at, so there will be more to the plot than just racing. JDM: Japanese Drift Master will release exclusively for PC via Steam on May 21, 2025.
