The developers have implemented two driving styles to provide a fun experience for veterans and newcomers alike. While a heavy emphasis has been placed on realism and physics, JDM: Japanese Drift Master will also feature optional arcade elements to tone down the difficulty.

The simulation style of the game, known as Simcade, is all about solid, physics-based driving, where everything from the car’s weight to the speed and precise angle of your drift will factor into how well you do. In this setup, you’ll have your ABS on, but the ESP, Drift Assist, and Brake Assist disabled, giving the player far more control over the car’s behavior.

If you want more assistance, there is also Arcade mode, which centers around fun over realism. This model will have ABS, ESP, Drift Assist, and Brake Assist all enabled, meaning you can focus on driving your car, hitting sweet drifts, and winning races.

You can select which gameplay model you’d prefer to use at the start of the game, with an option to change and customize settings also always being available in the Pause Menu. JDM: Japanese Drift Master takes the players to an open-world, fictional Japanese prefecture – Guntama. The world features over 250 km of roads, famous tourist landmarks, legendary car enthusiast spots, and more for you to explore with brands like Nissan, Honda, and Mazda.

You can check out the latest campaign gameplay trailer for more information on the story, including the backstory on who the main character will be, his motives for moving to Guntama, and the unique way it’ll all be presented. JDM: Japanese Drift Master is set to release exclusively for PC via Steam on May 21, 2025.
