JDM: Japanese Drift Master, has released its 2024 recap, taking a look through the year to see all the accomplishments and progress that’s been made for the upcoming racing simulator.
In 2024, there were 73 devlogs released. That’s over six devlogs a month, more than one a week. These included updates on both JDM: Japanese Drift Master and JDM: Rise of the Scorpion, the free prologue for the game. Considering the developers were also working on creating the game, this is pretty impressive.
While the launch of Rise of the Scorpion had its problems, the team worked on rolling several patches out to create the best prologue they could. Players were (and still are) able to experience an introduction to the game and to Hatori, one of the main story characters.
Through all this, the team appeared at several industry events. JDM: Japanese Drift Master partnered with 4Divinity, Intel, MSI, and 2Games to showcase the game at the following events:
- Pyrkon
- Japfest
- Gamescom
- PAX West
- Tokyo Game Show
- Gamescom Asia
- BitSummit
- Brasil Game Show
Another major milestone for the game included the acquisition of licenses for cars in the game. Nissan, Subaru, Mazda, and more have joined the lineup for vehicles that players will be able to drive.
The community had a busy year, too. Four contests were held, including an Instagram competition, a leaderboard competition, an art contest, and a giveaway. The team heartily thanked its community, which has been a core part of the development process.
JDM: Rise of the Scorpion, which was released in August, helped the racing sim jump into the top 50 most anticipated Steam games. As this occurred, JDM: Japanese Drift Master finally got a release window for Spring 2025.
