The developers of iRacing released a new patch numbered 2024.04.02.02, which is actually patch 3 of Season 2 for 2025.

Arguably, the biggest feature included in the update is adaptive AI, which was revealed last month.

The feature lets you select Adaptive AI instead of a Fixed Skill Range for your AI-controlled opponents, and their ability will be adapted to yours. They will also get better dynamically as you do.

On top of that, you can customize the AI further, as you can choose various levels of difficulty. Each of these levels will offer a different baseline of skill for the AI, but it will still ultimately adapt to yours.

For now, the feature will be available only in single races, but the developers plan to expand it to Hosted iRacing and AI Seasons.

The patch also includes improvements to physics, graphics, and more. You can read the full patch notes on Steam.

If you’re unfamiliar with iRacing, it’s a subscription-based, esports-focused racing simulation platform on PC considered by many to be one of the most realistic in the industry. It features precisely simulated cars and LIDAR-scanned tracks that reproduce their real counterparts, making it popular among many real racing drivers who use it for training.

It’s also an attractive esports platform as it features racing regulations closely related to the ones used in real motorsports to create an online esports environment that feels as professional as possible, encouraging clean racing, racecraft, and fair play over winning or placing high in the rankings.

iRacing partners with several real-world racing series and organizations, including Nascar, IMSA, the FIA, and many more.

The company behind iRacing is also publishing the next Nascar game, Nascar 25, which will be released this fall for PC and consoles.
