inZOI just had an online showcase, where developers talked about the game, and its challenges, also revealing quite a few details, like a roadmap, pricing details, and plenty more about the sim game itself.
Some of the most important info that players wanted to know is the pricing of inZOI. It will launch in Early Access at $39.99, and every update and DLC will be free through all of Early Access. The goal is that no player gets left behind, especially with a sprawling roadmap like the one inZOI currently has.
An early look at the roadmap shows that inZOI is focusing on larger updates that currently look as follows (though any part of it is subject to change, including dates and content):
- May 2025: Mod Kit, changes to weight and muscle adjustment, in-game cheat codes, relationship improvements, adoption system, build mode improvements and new furniture, outfit updates
- August 2025: Ghost play, swimming/pools, city editing resources, AI build mode, freelancer jobs, texting and skill improvements, parenting improvements
- October 2025: Family tree, hotkey customization, adjusting object sizes in Build Mode, new furniture, moving home improvements, improvements when creating a Zoi, mod updates
- December 2025: Memory system, move cities, interaction responses based on traits, Build Mode improvements and new furniture, improvements when creating a Zoi, mod update, new outfits, indoor temperatures
There were also two updates planned in 2026 that were teasingly shown, but it was shadowed so much that details about them are impossible to see.
For more details, inZOI Director Hyungjun “Kjun” Kim talked about how inZOI aims to capture the cycle of life at the beginning of the showcase. To Kjun, games like The Sims are comforting and helped him through many difficult times in his life. He wants to make more games in genres he and the people he loves enjoy, which led to inZOI.
The story of inZOI begins with the AR Company, which players work at as Creators. As Creators, they create virtual worlds known as inZOI. The characters created are Zois, and players will control and shape Zois lives.
A fun little caveat here is that the set of the online showcase is mirrored after the AR Company in inZOI. The showcase is like a recruitment video for players/Creators, a role-playing nod that Kjun mentioned. A short video showed off some of the developers of inZOI, where they discussed the joys and challenges of creating the life sim.
There are three main areas of gameplay: the city and the Zois in the city, in-game creative tools, and social relationships.
The city changes with the seasons, and Zois can throw seasonal events and parties. The way Zois interact with the city is also hyper-realistic — wearing the wrong clothes can lead Zois to get sick, and the weather/seasons influence what they can and can’t do.
The in-game creative tools in inZOI are incredibly immersive. inZOI Creators can create nearly anything with the in-game 3D object generator. This can be furniture, clothing items, or even motions. For example, players can upload a video of themselves dancing and their inZOI can take the pose. Additionally, there will be an experimental feature where inZOIs follow the motions and facial expressions of players using a camera.
Relationships are another main focus in inZOI. The traits of various Zois dictate the compatibility they have with others, and relationships will either grow (or decay) from there. Family relationships are incredibly important in the game — raising children is complex, and the relationships between children and parents will control the type of relationships the children will have as they grow.
Relationships also work online. Other Zois can use social media to talk to players’ Zois, praising or criticizing them. Building and interior decorating is another big focus in inZOI, and players can create highly-detailed homes and spaces in the city.
Kjun explained that the goal of inZOI is to be the best life simulation game out there. However, they know that getting there will take time. The life sim has already been met with a ton of excitement, but that brought about very high expectations that the team doesn’t want to fall flat on. This caused the game to be delayed, and they’re ready to use that pressure and feedback to grow the game.
From there, a lengthy Q&A was held. Excited fans can watch the entire inZOI online showcase below:
inZOI is set to release on March 28 on PC. However, players can get another early look at the Creative Studio by watching inZOI streams and getting a code drop starting on May 20. Starting March 23, any player can access the Creative Studio on Steam.
