International Game Developers Association Appoints New Board of Directors Members

IGDA 2025 Board of Directors Appointees

The International Game Developers Association (IGDA) has announced three new Board of Directors members as it continues its goal to support developers around the globe while growing a more inclusive games industry.

Three new members have been appointed, while Treasurer Tim Cullings will continue in his role.

First, Limpho Moeti has been appointed as Chair. Moeti has been working in the games industry for nine years, including work with South Africa’s Free Lives (Gorn, Broforce) and Nyamakop (Semblance). She also co-created Playtopia, an indie festival, and worked as the business development manager of RocketRide Games. Moeti’s platform includes representation and inclusivity in gaming and avoiding and reducing crunch in the industry.

The previous Chair, Zak Whaley, will serve as Chair Emeritus until March 2026.

Moeti shared thoughts on her new role at the IGDA:

“I’m humbled to step into this role at such a pivotal moment for our industry. The IGDA is especially vital for those historically underserved, and we will continue to champion inclusivity, sustainability, and opportunities for all game creators.”

Nazih Fares has been appointed as Vice Chair. Fares has 17 years of experience in the games industry, ranging from localization, marketing, communications, and even esports. Fares has worked on over 90 titles with studios like Blizzard and EA. They currently lead Le Cabinet du Savoir Ludique, which is a consultation firm that supports underrepresented gaming creators.

Mafalda Duarte is the new Secretary. Duarte is the current Women in Games Ambassador Coordinator. She was also the former Studio Director of Telescope Games, and she’s led the Spotlight Awards in the past. Duarte also co-founded Game Dev Lisbon and led Game Dev Camp Lisbon.

There were also changes to the staff, including a new Community Director and Director of Business Development and Strategic Funding.

Dr. Jakin Vela, the IGDA Executive Director, spoke about the new Board of Directors appointees:

“Limpho, Nazih, Mafalda, and Tim bring passion and unique approaches to supporting the organization. Their leadership and expertise will strengthen IGDA’s global connections, expand mentorship offerings, and create lasting partnerships that empower game developers at every stage of their careers.”

Right now, the IGDA is working to support developers around the world, growing its mentorship programs and programming to help developers network.
