We learned at the end of the livestreamed presentation that the Grand Prize was won by Slay the Princess by Black Tabby Games, which is certainly not surprising considering how beloved the game is by many.

Below you can check out the full list of winners. There weren’t many awards, but they were all quite meaningful.

  • Best Game Feel: Thronefall
  • Best New Characters Award: Slay the Princess
  • Rules of Play Award: Chants of Sennaar
  • Best Short Game Award: clickyland
  • Grand Award: Slay the Princess

Slay the Princess was originally released in October 2023, but it recently received an enhanced version called “Pristine Cut” that expanded the game by approximately 35%.

Unsurprisingly, the users on Steam have assigned “overwhelmingly positive” reviews to this dark and yet shiny indie gem.

The game is currently available for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

If you’re curious, you can check out all the games presented during the Indie Spotlight segment of the show, including a number revealed by Playism, by Kodansha, by Room6, and by Kamitsubaki Studio.

Perhaps, among them, there are next year’s winners.

Full disclosure: Simulation Daily is proud to be among the media partners of Indie Live Expo 2024.
