In Control: Rocketry is a brand new spaceflight simulator from developer Electromechanical Softworks that lets players control virtually every stage of an orbital mission. It combines realistic physics and propulsion systems with hands-on spacecraft construction and operation, challenging players to answer one deceptively simple question: could you actually fly this thing?

Players begin by designing their own spacecraft using components such as thrusters, fuel tanks, and capsules, with each part affecting the vehicle’s overall mass and flight characteristics. Building the rocket is only the beginning, as players must also construct its control panel by wiring together sensors, inputs, and outputs to create the systems needed to operate the craft.

Once the spacecraft is assembled, players take direct control during flight, managing the control panel, monitoring resources, maintaining a flight path, and steering toward their destination while dealing with real orbital mechanics. The combination of construction and manual operation means that a successful mission depends on both how well the rocket is built and how effectively it is piloted.

Progression in In Control: Rocketry will unlock genuine rocket and control-panel components, letting players build increasingly capable spacecraft and reach new destinations throughout the solar system. The game features an Earth-like planet and its moon, along with more distant worlds that present their own challenges and puzzles; failed missions can end in a spectacular crash rather than a successful landing.

Asteroids also provide another way to interact with the game’s space environment, as players can redirect them and mine their resources for use in further experimentation and construction. Players can undertake missions with uncrewed spacecraft or with a crew onboard, with manned flights adding life-support management alongside the other systems pilots must monitor.

In Control: Rocketry

For players who would rather experiment without the pressure of a structured mission, In Control: Rocketry will also include a Sandbox Mode. This mode lets players test unconventional spacecraft designs, practice piloting skills, experiment with different components, or build and fly rockets for the sake of experimentation.
