Today marks the beginning of EVO 2024, which means that you can expect a whole lot of fighting game goodness to be revealed, starting with Bushiroad Games and Arc System Works, which revealed new footage of Hunter x Hunter Nen x Impact.
The publishers (Arc System Works publishes the game in the West, while Bushiroad is the publisher in Japan) partnered to showcase the anime-style cutscene of the game, which provides a bird-eye view of the playable characters you’ll be able to enjoy in this upcoming fighting game.
Fans of the original manga and anime can enjoy a look at many fan favorites, including Gon, Killua, Meruem, and many more, as you can see below.
Speaking of Meruem, we also get a specific look at the King of Ants, with his dedicated gameplay trailer.
The video showcases his intro and some of his moves, providing a look at the cel-shaded visuals of the game, the voice-overs and effects, and what you can expect from the gameplay itself.
If you’re unfamiliar with Hunter x Hunter Nen x Impact, the game was announced by Bushiroad back in December 2023 at Jump Festa in Japan. At that time, it didn’t have an official title, which was revealed at an event at Tokyo Dome in January 2024. Arc System Works’ involvement in the Western market was announced more recently.
It’ll launch in 2024 for PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
The game is developed by Eighting, known for its work on Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, DNF Duel, Bloody Roar, Fate/unlimited codes, Tekken Advance, and more.
It’s inspired by the ultra-popular Hunter x Hunter manga by Yoshihiro Togashi, which debuted all the way back in 1998 and is still ongoing, published by Shueisha on Weekly Shonen Jump. Over time, it spawned a long-running anime TV series, movies, OVA, and even several video games.
